I have been at Central Academy since 2001.  I enjoy working with the wonderful families in the Central Academy community and watching my students grow as they move through the grades at Central Academy.  Several years ago I had the pleasure of watching my first class of Grade Fours at Central Academy graduate from Grade 12!

I am a firm believer in a quality education and therefore maintain high standards of education for myself.  I attended McGill University in Montreal, Quebec for my undergraduate degree in Honors Sociology and International Development Studies.  It was an amazing experience to live in a vibrant city like Montreal and to work with the high quality scholars at McGill.  I then attended Queen's University in Kingston, Ontario for my education degree in Honors Elementary Education.  While I was at Queen's University, I had the privilege of teaching in Cartagena, Colombia for some of my student teaching.  I also have my Master's degree in Curriculum and Instructional Studies from The University of Western Ontario.  This Master's of Education degree takes me one step closer to my goal of a PhD in Education which I will start soon.

Over the past several years, I have been working with teachers to implement new practices and models at Central Academy.  During non-school hours, I work with the Michigan Department of Education, GEE, and various districts to train teachers in the SIOP Model.

During the summer I enjoy traveling with my husband.  We have been to many places together and lived in London, England for a year where I also taught.  Our most recent trip was a month traveling through India!  I hope to visit a place on each of the seven continents - and have only Australia and Antarctica to go!

During the school year I have very little spare time, because as you will notice, I spend a lot of time making my classroom and teaching the best experience possible for my students.  When I do have some extra time, I enjoy working on this webpage, reading, sewing, crafting, and exercising.

On November 2, 2007 I was honored to be named 2007 Michigan Charter School Teacher of the Year.  You can read the Ann Arbor News article here.
