Science investigations answer a question.  The answer is often in the form of a "the, the" or "er, er" statement.

Example #1: 

*Question: How does the type of material in a floor covering affect the soundproofing of a room?

*Answer: The softer the covering, the quieter the room

 

 

Example #2:

*Question: How does temperature affect how quickly ice melts?

*Answer: The lower the temperature, the slower ice melts.

 

 

Scientists make predictions (hypothesize), change variables, measure, observe, and make conclusions.
